Meath's company law has two centres of gravity: the family and agri-businesses of a county that farms and builds, and the managed estates of a commuter belt - Navan, Ashbourne, Ratoath, Dunboyne - where owners' management companies govern estate after estate and their volunteer boards carry the load.
Company Law in Meath
The commuter-county OMC file is Meath's signature: managed housing estates (to which the MUD Act extends in modified form) with service charges for green spaces and shared infrastructure, boards of volunteer neighbours, AGMs that lapsed during the busy years, and the occasional management company discovered dissolved when an estate house goes sale-agreed. The machinery answers all of it - section 17's meeting and report, section 18's charge approval, section 24's Circuit Court jurisdiction, the 6-year restoration window - and estate OMCs use it far less than apartment ones only because fewer have been told it exists.
The county's other register is family: farming enterprises incorporated a generation ago, construction and trades companies, successions promised across kitchen tables - the shareholder and family business disputes this practice runs everywhere, with the agri dimension shared with the firm's farm practice at farmsolicitor.ie.
How We Work With Meath Clients
Company disputes run on documents, phone and email — the constitution, the registers, the correspondence — so distance costs nothing: we act for clients in every county from our Dublin and Kilkenny offices, travelling where hearings require it. The first call is the same wherever you are: your position on the documents, the realistic routes, and the clocks running on you. Start with the Dispute Route Finder, or for anything involving an apartment block or managed estate, the OMC Health Check.
Mary Molloy Solicitors are solicitors, not accountants or tax advisers. Nothing on this page is tax, accounting or financial advice — engage your accountant on those questions, and both advisers together where matters straddle the line. Company law procedures, CRO practice and filing deadlines change frequently, and reform of the law governing owners’ management companies and charities is ongoing; confirm the current position before acting on anything here.
